How to Connect WhatsApp to Your CRM
Pairing WhatsApp + CRM lets you receive and handle WhatsApp conversations in the same single window as all your other channels. WhatsApp connects through the official Meta Cloud API — it’s the most technical of the channels: you’ll need an app in Meta (Facebook) for Developers and a verified phone number. Only the Owner can connect this channel.
What you’ll need
- Owner access to the Settings section.
- An app in Meta (Facebook) for Developers with the WhatsApp product added.
- A verified WhatsApp phone number and its Phone Number ID.
- The App Secret and Access Token values from your Meta app.
⚠️ Connecting WhatsApp is more involved than Telegram or Viber: first you need to create an app in Meta for Developers, add the WhatsApp product and verify a number. If you’re doing this for the first time, set aside a little extra time for the setup. It’s easier to start with a lighter channel — for example, connect Telegram or connect Viber.
Step-by-step guide: whatsapp crm
- Log in to your account and open Settings → the WhatsApp (Meta Cloud API) section.
- Click ➕ Add WhatsApp. The card will show a Callback URL and a Verify Token with copy buttons.
- Copy the Callback URL and Verify Token and paste them into the webhook setup in Meta (Facebook) for Developers → WhatsApp.
- Return to the MyInboxify card and fill in the fields: App Secret, Access Token and Phone Number ID (taken from your Meta app).
- Click Save. Once the connection succeeds, the channel card will show the status ● Connected.
Extras: templates and auto-reply
WhatsApp enforces a 24-hour window rule: you can only message a customer freely within 24 hours of their message; after that, you can only use approved templates. That’s why the channel card lets you set up templates in advance in the name|lang|text format (template name, language and text) — they’re handy to send straight from a lead card. You can also turn on an auto-reply if you like: the customer will receive it in WhatsApp in response to their first message.
Once the channel is connected, messages from WhatsApp will start landing in the shared list alongside all your other channels. To learn how to reply, assign an owner and keep a history, read the article working with incoming leads.
FAQ
Where do I get the App Secret, Access Token and Phone Number ID?
All three values are in your app in Meta (Facebook) for Developers, in the WhatsApp product section. The Phone Number ID is tied to the verified phone number.
Why can’t I just paste in a token like with Telegram?
WhatsApp works through the official Meta Cloud API. It requires a separate Meta app and webhook setup via a Callback URL and Verify Token — that’s a requirement from Meta itself, not from MyInboxify.
Why can’t I message a customer first?
Because of WhatsApp’s 24-hour window rule. Outside this window, a message can only be sent as an approved template — set up templates in the channel card in advance.
