Live Chat for Your Website: How to Install the Widget
Live chat for your website helps you reply to visitors right on the page while they are still deciding. All chat messages land in the same shared inbox as messages from messengers, so you run every conversation in one place. In this article you will install the live chat widget on your site and customize how it looks. The Owner of the company can set up chat — the section lives in your settings.
What you’ll need
- Owner access to the Settings section.
- The ability to edit your website’s HTML code (add one line before the closing </body> tag).
How to install live chat for your website
Setup has two parts: first you copy the widget code and paste it onto your site, then you turn on chat and customize it to suit you.
- Open Settings and go to the 💬 Live chat section.
- Copy the widget code — it is a script that looks like <script async src=”https://lead.myinboxify.com/assets/chat.js” data-key=”…”>.
- Paste this script into your website code before the closing </body> tag on every page where you want chat.
- Turn chat on with the checkbox in the 💬 Live chat section so the widget starts showing to visitors.
- Customize the appearance: the window title, color, position (right or left) and greeting.
- If needed, enable the “ask for contact” option to request the visitor’s name or phone number before the conversation begins.
- Set the offline text — the message a customer sees when you are away — and choose the online mode (automatic or always on).
- Optionally turn on a proactive message with a delay — the chat will reach out to the visitor itself after a set time on the page.
- Additionally configure data-processing consent, permission to attach files and the branding toggle.
💡 It’s enough to paste the code once into your site’s shared template (for example, in the footer), and the widget will appear on every page.
Once the code is in place, open your website and check that a chat button has appeared in the corner. Send a test message — it should arrive in your Inbox. From there, handling requests is just as convenient as working with incoming leads from messengers: you reply, assign an owner and keep the history in one shared inbox.
⚠️ If the widget didn’t appear, check that the script is placed exactly before the closing </body> tag and that chat is enabled with the checkbox in settings.
If you need a classic request form rather than a conversation, see how to capture leads from a website form — you can place it next to the chat too.

No. It’s enough to copy the ready-made widget code and paste it before the </body> tag. You can do this in your website builder or in your theme template.
Where will I see messages from live chat?
All messages arrive in the Inbox section — the same shared inbox as conversations from Telegram, WhatsApp and Viber.
Can the chat start talking to a visitor on its own?
Yes. Turn on a proactive message and set a delay — the chat will reach out to the visitor after a set time on the page.
